Madrid: Real Madrid proved in the first match of the season that they are determined to regain the La Liga title that they lost last time. Real Madrid started the new season with a victory by defeating Osasuna 1-0 in the match held at their home ground, the Santiago Bernabeu. Superstar Kylian Mbappe scored the winning goal for Real, who scored a penalty in the 51st minute. Real’s strategy was to attack from the start of the match. Real’s forward line continuously attacked Osasuna’s goal with a high-press game. Goalkeeper Sergio Herrera’s resistance saved Osasuna from conceding a goal in the first half.
At the beginning of the second half, Mbappe gave Real the lead by scoring a penalty kick after he was brought down in the box. This was Mbappe’s first goal in Real’s number 10 jersey. The hosts had several chances to extend their lead, but they were unable to break through Osasuna’s defence.
Osasuna’s Abel Bretonnes was sent off for a foul on Real Madrid’s Golzalo Garcia in injury time of the second half.
