
Panaji: FC Goa entered the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2 after defeating Omani club Al Seeb 2-1. The Goans advanced to the next round with a thrilling victory in front of their home crowd at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. Dejan Drasic scored the first goal for Goa in the 24th minute of the match. Javier Severio doubled Goa’s lead with a corner kick early in the second half. However, Nasser Al Rawahi scored a goal for Al Seeb in the 60th minute. Later, Goa strengthened their defense and secured the victory with a brilliant performance by goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwary. With this victory, two teams from India will get a chance to play in the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2 this season. Mohun Bagan Supergiant, who won the ISL Shield, had qualified directly. This is a big achievement for Indian football. It indicates the growth of India in Asian football. We can expect these teams to perform even better in the group stage.
