
Spain and Inter Miami star Jordi Alba has announced his retirement from professional football. He will retire at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. The 36-year-old left-back shared the news on his Instagram page. He wrote that he is closing a meaningful chapter in his life and feels it is time to open a new one with peace of mind and joy.

Alba will join Inter Miami in 2023, joining former FC Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. He has played a key role in Miami’s recent successes, including the Leagues Cup and Supporters’ Shield. Alba has a distinguished career, having played 93 times for Spain between 2011 and 2023. He played a key role in Spain’s victory at the 2012 European Championship. He won six La Liga titles and the 2015 UEFA Champions League during an illustrious 11-year career at Barcelona. Alba had initially planned to extend his contract until 2027, but decided to retire early to spend more time with his family.
