Madrid: Liverpool’s 28-year-old Portuguese star Diego Jotta, who was killed in a car accident in Spain, got married a few days ago. Jotta married his childhood friend and long-time partner Ruth Cardoso on June 22. The couple have three children. Jotta had shared wedding photos with his wife and children on social media. The news of Jotta’s tragic death came amid celebrations that the long-awaited dream of marriage had finally come true. The accident occurred at 12.30 am on Thursday in Zamora, northwestern Spain. While traveling to Benavente, the car lost control and overturned on the Reyes Bajas highway (A-52) near Palacios de Sanabria, 70 miles west of the ancient city of Valladolid in Spain. The initial conclusion is that the accident was caused by a flat tire while trying to overtake another vehicle. The car caught fire and was completely destroyed. Jotta’s brother, Andre Silva (26), who was also a professional footballer, also died in the accident.
