London ∙ Newcastle United moved up to third place in the English Premier League and secured Champions League qualification with a 2-0 win over Chelsea. Sandro Tonali (2nd minute) and Bruno Guimaraes (90th) scored the goals. Chelsea were reduced to 10 men when Nicholas Jackson was sent off in the 35th minute. With Newcastle’s victory, the battle for Champions League qualification in the Premier League has become tough again. Arsenal (68), Newcastle (66), Manchester City (65), Chelsea (63), Aston Villa (63) and Nottingham Forest (61), with 2 matches remaining, are in the fray for the four Champions League berths. Only Liverpool (83), who have secured the title, have now secured qualification.
